2007 marks the 200th anniversary of the passing of the Act to abolish the Slave Trade in Britain. To mark this occasion the Gallery has developed a new section for its website that explores aspects of the history of slavery and its abolition.

The site includes general information about the history of slavery in Britain and an online Trail through the Gallery's Collection that highlights key individuals who have been associated with the slave trade. It also includes a link to a walk around Westminster illustrating sites associated with slavery and abolition, and resources and events linked to the 2007 Bicentenary of the Act to abolish the slave trade.

To find out more about these subjects please click on the appropriate headings.
