How can I find out about internships?
Curatorial internships for graduates (usually working 1 day a week for 6 months) are usually advertised on our website twice a year, in May and November.
Internships provide valuable experience in a national collection.
Interns in our Archive and Curatorial departments provide collections-related assistance. Interns in these posts work directly with Curators, so must demonstrate an interest in the chosen period.
Other posts can offer more general experience, involving a rotating placement with the Curatorial department, Photography department and Archive.
Interns usually attend a Gallery induction day to learn more about the range of the Gallery's work, and training in using the Archive and Library is provided.
Interns are unpaid, but travel expenses within London are available.
