One of the most celebrated photographers of our time presents a selection of her work of the last fifteen years. The material documents many events involving her family, including the death of her father and the birth of her three daughters. Leibovitz's passion for her family and friends is part of a larger passion that extends to the subjects of her professional work, and the two worlds meet thematically. Portraits of public figures include the pregnant Demi Moore, Nelson Mandela in Soweto, Jack Nicholson on Mulholland Drive, Bill Clinton in the Oval Office, William Burroughs in Kansas and Agnes Martin in Taos.

Starting in 1974, with her coverage of Nixon's resignation, and culminating with her famous portraits of Queen Elizabeth II early in 2007, Leibovitz explains what professional photographers do and how they do it. Ninety images are discussed in detail, including the circumstances under which they were taken and specific technical information. The Rolling Stones' tour in 1975, the famous session with John Lennon and Yoko Ono hours before Lennon was killed, the American Express and Gap campaigns, Whoopi Goldberg in a bathtub of milk and Demi Moore pregnant and naked. The photos and stories are arranged chronologically, moving from film to digital. Leibovitz's fans and lovers of great photography will find her stories of how one learns to see, and then how to photograph, inspiring.
