As is to be expected with a copy, no pentimenti are evident in either the infrared reflectogram on the right or the x-ray in the centre. Infrared reflectography reveals extensive underdrawing with bold, definite lines that indicate reinforcement over a tracing. It is notable that the brocade background appears light in the x-ray where it is darker in the painting. This indicates that there is a layer of lead-containing paint beneath the dark green glaze.
