The wooden blocks attached to the back of the panel to reinforce the panel are very evident in the x-ray in the centre. The outline of the shoulders were changed at a late stage and were reduced on the left and extended on the right. The areas of damage and paint loss can be seen in both the x-ray and the photograph taken in ultra violet light on the right, particularly along the panel join. This image in ultra violet light also shows that there is very little restoration in the face.
