The structure of the support is clearly evident in the right-hand image taken in raking light, and the left panel join, which runs through the face, is slightly open on the paint surface. There is also an old split in the top of the left-hand panel member which is related to woodworm damage. The secondary cradling support is clearly evident in the central x-ray. It is also possible to see a small pentiment at the edge of the collar.
