The National Portrait Gallery has developed a number of ways of sharing the works in its collection with audiences outside London and has been at the forefront of such developments within the museum community.
From partnerships with country
houses and long term loans to historic locations, to an energetic
programme of touring exhibitions, and short term loans to temporary
exhibitions created by museums and galleries throughout the UK.
In any recent year the NPG has over 270 works on long-term loan
and more than 100 works out on shorter term loans.
