BP 2005 Portrait Award Winner:Dean Marsh

The BP Portrait Award showcases the very best in contemporary portrait painting anywhere in the world. The Award encourages young artists to focus upon, and develop, the theme of portraiture within their work, offering a first-prize of £25,000. Following a record-breaking entry, this year's exhibition presents over fifty works featuring a diverse range of styles, which highlight and celebrate portrait painting today. The BP Portrait Award 2005 also displays work by 2004's BP Travel Award winner, Darvish Fakhr, completed during a trip to Iran where he painted people in the old Persian bazaars.
