Dear Sir
The picture I have in hand to line, Portrait of Lord Aberdeen, is in such a bad state, that it will be impossible for me to do anything with it unless it is transferred to another canvas, as the paint is loose mostly all over from the original canvas. I had no idea of its being loose from the original canvas until I had got so far that it is impossible for me to stop, so therefore it must be proceeded
