Hayter's notes and sketches made in the House of Lords.
  The light descending from either window casts strong & broad shadows on either opposite side, in the right hand corner of the right gallery the heads, one with broad shadows and sharp lights from the opposite side (refers to sketch) & the shadow's broad from the bars &c. the heads below in clear light from the opposite side. shadows not very sharp. The benches above (indication of light above bench) much less bright in colour, from being (illegible) the light - heads in the middle of the house, in quiet masses of broad half tints & (illegible) light - all receding features dark. on this left side the heads, the shadows with points and the shadowy heads frequently absorbed by the object supporting it.
