Indian Ink
An ink made from a mixture of carbon black and water stabilised in an alkaline solution such as gum. Named after similar materials brought back from China or Japan in the past, the paste made was formed into tablets and sticks and dried. To use they were rubbed on rough stone and water added (see also ink).
