Georgian poets

Georgian Poetry was a series of 5 anthologies published between 1911 and 1922 by Harold Edward Monro and edited by Edward Marsh. The title of the anthologies reflected the accession of George V and the dawn of a new, poetic age. Those considered to be Georgian poets were strictly defined by having their work published in one of the anthologies. Poets including Walter de la Mare and Siegfried Sassoon were motivated by the desire to make poetry more accessible to the wider public. With a lyrical and romantic view, many poets looked to the countryside for inspiration and material. Despite their progressive aspirations, many of the poets associated with the group were still working within the confines of the Victorian era and later became associated with a romantic conservatism.
