Room 29 at the National Portrait Gallery

The Turn of the Century

Room 29This room is dedicated to some of the most important artistic figures at the end of the 19th Century. On one wall there are a group of portraits by John Singer Sargent, including a full-length portrait of Sir Frank Swettenham in white uniform. Other points of focus are a series of portraits by artists associated with the New English Art Club, including Sickert and Steer, self-portraits by brother and sister Augustus and Gwen John and a group of Epstein bronze busts. A wallcase is dedicated to special displays, details of which can be found via the link below.
