Britain 1960-90
The Balcony gallery is the setting for Artists and Sitters, a display of portraits from the collection covering the period 1960-90. The display includes groups of portraits by particular artists, inviting the viewer to consider the range of styles and approaches that proliferated in late 20th century portraiture. The display was rehung with numerous recent acquisitions in November 2009 and includes portraits by Lucian Freud, Chris Ofili, Tom Philips, Ruskin Spear, Graham Sutherland and Andy Warhol.
