(Robert) Anthony Eden, 1st Earl of Avon

Sitter in 42 portraits
Conservative Prime Minister between 1955 and 1957, Eden was awarded the Military Cross during World War I, and elected MP for Warwick and Leamington in 1923. He was a highly effective Foreign Secretary during a period of immense international tension. As Prime Minister, Eden's support of Anglo-French intervention in the Suez Crisis of 1956 lost him support.
