Sitter in 9 portraits
Artist associated with 6 portraits
Painter who studied and worked in France, where he was the friend of Delacroix. His landscapes and genre scenes, fluent in touch and brilliant in colour and light, had a liberating effect on Romantic art. Despite his short career, Bonington is regarded as one of the great masters of the English School.
