Ann Denman married the sculptor John Flaxman in 1782. John Flaxman was the leading neo-classical sculptor in late eighteenth-century Britain. From the start he had the support of his wife Ann, known as 'Nancy'; an artist herself, she spent much of her time managing his business affairs.
