Jockey; headed the list of winning jockeys 1855-63, scoring 165 wins in 1862; won the Oaks five times, the Derby in 1879 and the Grand Prix de Paris three times.

Is this the George Fordham who went to live in Brighton and died there, apparently he drank a lot...
If this is him he is a direct descendant of my adopted father douglas wilbur wright whose family came from the Ely - Fordham area. Uncle Harry (?) ran a pub in Fordham which I visited when I just small.
