Fry was a champion of Cézanne and the Post-Impressionists, organizing ground-breaking exhibitions London in 1910 and 1912-13. He became a leading figure among the avant-garde and in 1913 founded the Omega Workshops, a decorative art venture which experimented with the possibilities of abstract design. Fry was active as a painter and continued to write, publishing a number of his most important articles in Vision and Design (1920). He produced eight books in the last ten years of his life, notably Transformations (1927) and Cézanne (1928).
