Sitter associated with 6 portraits
After a lifetime of service, given the chance of displaying his military prowess by leading an army to the relief of Lucknow; although vastly outnumbered he won a succession of spectacular victories; took part in many Indian and Afghan expeditions and died shortly after the relief of Lucknow during the Indian Mutiny; a man with an austere sense of duty and deep religious convictions.
