King Henry V
(1387-1422), Reigned 1413-22Sitter associated with 32 portraits
The eldest son of Henry IV, he succeeded his father in 1413. A skilled political and military strategist, he diverted the nobility from grievances at home to conquest abroad. He recaptured Normandy, married the daughter of the French king Charles VI, but died suddenly aged only thirty-five before he could inherit the French throne.
