Artist, painter, printmaker, illustrator, stage designer, photographer and writer. Bradford-born Hockney studied at the Royal College of Art and became a leading figure in the Pop Art movement. His first retrospective exhibition was held at the Whitechapel Art Gallery, London in 1970. Hockney's recent practice has incorporated new technology, using iPad applications to create a series of still-lives and landscapes. His most recent work was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 2012.
