Painter who became a wealthy art dealer; lived in Rome; and engaged in securing commissions for the British artists residing there and in buying works of art for noblemen on the Grand Tour; amongst many famous sculptures he acquired Bernini's Neptune and Triton, now in the Victoria and Albert Museum, for Joshua Reynolds.
