Sitter in 3 portraits
George Wyndham Kennion was ordained as a deacon in 1869 and as a priest the following year. In 1882, he was chosen by Archbishop Tait to be the second bishop of Adelaide and was consecrated in Westminster Abbey. Kennion arrived in South Australia in 1883. During his twelve years in the diocese many churches were built, considerable progress was made in the building of the cathedral, and the number of clergy increased from fifty to seventy-five. In 1894, Kennion returned to England as Bishop of Bath and Wells. He did not take a leading part in ecclesiastical affairs, but was Chairman of the English Committee on Faith and Order.
