At the age of five, Ouseley exclaimed 'Only think, papa blows his nose in G!'; at six, he played a piano duet with Mendelssohn. Professor of Music at Oxford in 1855, he founded St Michael's College, Tenbury, in 1857, endowing it generously and acting as Warden until he died.
