Sir (Jonathan) Frederick Pollock, 1st Bt (1783-1870), Judge

Pollock was called to the Bar and began practising law in 1807. He rapidly acquired an extensive practice both at Westminster and on the northern circuit. In 1830, he declined the offer of a judgeship, instead turning his attention to politics; he became a Tory MP the following year.
