Architect, writer, designer and ecclesiologist; leader of the Gothic revival movement; converted to Roman Catholicism in 1835; designed many churches including St. Chad's Cathedral, Birmingham and St. George's, Southwark; assisted Charles Barry (1795-1860) with the design for the Houses of Parliament; died in Ramsgate following a mental breakdown.
