William Vaughan (1752-1850), Merchant and writer

Advocate of canals and ports. A prominent London merchant, he endeavoured to form a society for the promotion of English canals in 1791. He also published tracts urging construction of the London Docks 1793-7, so forwarding London's development as a major port.
