Princess Anne
(1950-), Equestrian; Olympian; Princess Royal and daughter of Queen Elizabeth IISitter in 129 portraits
Princess Anne, Queen Elizabeth II's's only daughter, was created Princess Royal in 1987. The Princess is a former Olympic horsewoman and an amateur jockey and, among the many organisations supported by her, she is President of the Save the Children Fund. In 1981, she became Commandant-in-Chief of the First Aid Nursing Yeomanry, which had the Princess Royal's Volunteer Corps added to its name in 1999. She married firstly Captain Mark Phillips (1973-1992), and secondly Commander Timothy Laurence, (1992). Her two children, Peter and Zara, were born in 1977 and 1981. She has been a member of the International Olympic Committee since 1988 and served on the board of LOCOG (the London Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games).
