Eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip and heir to the British throne. Created Prince of Wales on 26 July 1958, invested Prince of Wales in 1969. Took a degree at Cambridge (1967-70) before serving in the RAF and Royal Navy (1971-6). On leaving the navy in 1976, the prince founded The Prince's Trust to help young people realise their potential. He recently published a practical guide to organic gardening.
