Prince Charles

(1948-), Prince of Wales

Sitter in 148 portraits
Eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip and heir to the British throne. Created Prince of Wales on 26 July 1958, invested Prince of Wales in 1969. Took a degree at Cambridge (1967-70) before serving in the RAF and Royal Navy (1971-6). On leaving the navy in 1976, the prince founded The Prince's Trust to help young people realise their potential. Environmentalist and champion of organic farming and gardening.
