George Harrison
(1943-2001), Musician; member of The BeatlesSitter in 78 portraits
Although the youngest and most understated member of The Beatles, George Harrison was a key part of the mix. He wrote two of The Beatles' most enduring songs, 'Something' and 'Here Comes the Sun' and introduced the band to Eastern spiritualism and Indian music. He was the first of the 'Fab Four' to enjoy a solo career with the number one hit 'My Sweet Lord'. In 1971 he launched the concept of pop philanthropy by staging a concert in New York to raise money for famine relief in Bangladesh. With his company Handmade Films he financed successful British films including 'Mona Lisa' and Monty Python's 'Life of Brian'.
