Sir Nicholas Poyntz (1510-1557), Courtier; sheriff of Gloucestershire

Poyntz accompanied Anne of Cleves to England in 1539. As a prominent landowner and courtier, he was Sheriff of Gloucestershire and elected twice to Parliament. He was a supporter of the dissolution of the monasteries and promoted religious change under Henry VIII, for which he may have received his knighthood.
