Historian; well-known for the lucidity of his argument and the originality of his views, Taylor wrote many studies of modern historical subjects, particularly the First and Second World Wars. His publications include English History 1914-1945 (1965) and The Russian Revolution of 1917, (script of the first lectures given on television, 1958).
