Sir Aaron Klug (1926-), Molecular biologist

Molecular biologist; born in South Africa, Klug settled in England in 1949 and has worked in Cambridge and at Birkbeck College, London University; President of the Royal Society (since 1995). His research has included work on viruses, on the structure and action of transfer RNA in animal cells and on chromatin in cells; he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 1982.
