This engraving more probably dates from about 1833, the year in which Macartan's portrait of Bewick was exhibited at the Royal Academy. The date you give relates to the date of publication (1871) of Thomas Landseer's 'Life and Letters of William Bewick', where the engraving appears as a frontispiece.
