Fred Kormis

(1894-1986), Sculptor and medallist

Artist of 1 portrait
Born and trained at Frankfurt, Kormis fled Germany for Holland in 1933 and then to England in 1934. Kormis produced medals of Churchill and Herbert Morrison and of various members of the War Cabinet in 1942. On a larger scale, his public commissions included the Prisoner of War memorial in Willesden in 1970.

There is an alabaster tomb by Kormis in St Batholomew's church, at Corsham, Wiltshire. It looks very delicate, and is behind a barrier for protection.
