John Charles Felix Rossi, sculptor, grew up in England the son of an Italian. In 1785 he was sent to Rome for three years on a Royal Academy scholarship. In 1797 he was appointed Sculptor to the Prince of Wales (later George IV) and in 1830 became Sculptor in Ordinary to William IV. Rossi was elected Associate of the Royal Academy in 1798 and was made a Royal Academician in 1802.
