Albert Rutherston was a figure and landscape painter, book illustrator and designer of posters and stage sets. He studied at the Slade School from 1898 until 1902 and was a member of the New English Art Club from 1905. Rutherston was Ruskin Master of Drawing at Oxford from 1929 to 1948.
