George Harlow White

Born in London, George Harlow White entered the Royal Academy Schools in 1836. After leaving the Royal Academy he produced a number of portraits and illustrations. White's main interest, however, was in picturesque landscapes and in this tradition he worked in Scotland, Ireland, Wales, and the Home Counties between 1839 and 1871. He spent the years 1871-77 living in Canada, after which he returned to England.
