Dates regarding the Patten family of painters. William Patten (Sr), the miniature portrait painter died 10 Sept 1855 aged 88 (born c1767). In the 1841 and 1851 census he was living with spinster daughter Elizabeth. William Patten (Jr.), the portrait painter of this NPG page, died 22 Aug 1843 aged 50 (born c1793). William Sr.'s wife was Mary. William Jr's wife was Sarah. George Patten ARA (son of Wm Sr. and Mary) was born 29 June 1801 and died 11 March 1865. Charles Patten (son of Wm Sr. and Mary) was born 19 Sept 1804 and died 3 Aug 1833. Alfred Fowler Patten, son of George Patten ARA and Lucy Fowler (who's widowed mother married Wm Sr's brother Henry Patten), was born 27 Apr 1829 and died 26 Nov 1907. William Vandyke Patten (son of Wm Jr and Sarah) was born 6 Dec 1824 and died 1886.
