Austrian-born American photographer, née Elise Felic Amelie Seybert; married painter Evsa Model, 1936 and emigrated to U.S.A., 1937. Self-taught and freelance, based in New York working for Harper's Bazaar, Look, Ladies Home Journal (1941-53); later influential teacher of photography to, among others, Diane Arbus.
