Cookery writer, broadcaster and actress. Born and educated in Delhi, India, and then at RADA . After moving to America Jaffrey collected and published recipes sent from her mother in India. Through her books including Flavours of India (1995) and television and radio appearances she has gained appreciation for Indian cooking. As an actress her film work includes Heat and Dust (1982).
