Louis Armstrong came to Batley Variety Club in Batley West Yorkshire.
He is reputed to say, coming down the famous Bradford Road, near the Variety Club, sitting in the Rolls Royce, "well boys, we sure have hit rock bottom now".
From John James Teggart, who knew Batley Variety Club very well.
