John Arthur (Churchwarden St Andrew's Pau)

12 February 2016, 15:09

Th Revd Reginald Henry Dyke Acland-Troyte (1851-1932) was Chaplain of St Andrew's Church, Pau (then in the Basses-Pyrénées, France) 1885-1922. He supervised the building of the church, which opened in 1888, and its decoration in the High Anglican style. There was a substantial anglophone population in Pau at this period. His wife Charlotte Eliza, née Price (1847-1917) and nephew Hugh (1865-1918), killed in action in France, are commemorated in the church, which is still in use as an anglican church today.
