Fertility pioneer; Professor of Science and Society and Emeritus Professor of Fertility Studies at Imperial College London. Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Hammersmith Hospital (1978-2008). Appointed chair of the House of Lords Select Committee on Science and Technology in 1999 and established The Institute of Reproductive and Developmental Biology, Imperial College in 2001. Lord Winston has written more than 300 scientific publications on embryology and human reproduction and has presented numerous BBC programmes, including Your Life in Their Hands (1979-87), The Human Body (1998), Superhuman (2000) and the Child of Our Time series which began in 2000.
