Sitter associated with 101 portraits
Actress and singer, Lawrence made her stage debut in Dick Whittington in Brixton in December 1908. Lawrence achieved her first major stage success appearing opposite Noël Coward in his musical revue London Calling (1923), having first met in the Playhouse Theatre, Liverpool in 1912. The musical included one of her many signature songs 'Parisian Pierrot'. Lawrence became Coward's great muse and life-long friend, with the author writing Private Lives (1930) especially for her, and they starred together again in Coward's Tonight at 8.30 (1935).
