Barrister and broadcaster on law and women's rights. Called to the bar in 1972, Queen's Counsel since 1991. During the 1980s Kennedy wrote and broadcast on the discrimination experienced by women as lawyers and users of the law. Practices predominantly in the criminal law and has acted in many high-profile cases including the Brighton Bombing Trial and the Guildford Four Appeal. In 1987 created the BBC television series Blind Justice and presented Heart of the Matter. Publications include her award winning on women working in the justice system Eve was Framed (1992) and Just Law: The changing face of justice (2004). Created a life peer in 1997.
