Major Robert Herbert Heath Jary was born on 1st November 1830.1 He was the son of William Heath Jary and Sarah Postle. He married Julia Harriet Mary Bromilow in 1862, daughter and heiress of David Bromilow and Harriet Susan Sothern of Battlesden Park, Bedfordshire and Bitteswell Hall Leicestershire. He died in 1920 at The Hall, South Walsham, Norfolk,
He also lived at Burlingham House, Norfolk and Bitteswell Hall. He gained the rank of Major in the service of the 12th Lancers. He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Norfolk. He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Norfolk. He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Lancahsire. He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Bedfordshire. He held the office of High Sheriff of Norfolk in 1901
