Norman Plant

(1945-), Photographer

Artist of 2 portraits
Inspired by the gift of a Kodak Brownie camera at the age of fifteen, Plant studied at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and in the second half of the 1960s worked as a press photographer in Victoria. In late 1970 he went to Canberra, where he became an Australian Government Photographer with the Australian News and information Bureau. Plant covered the Prime Minister on overseas visits, the Australian Governor General, Australian Parliament House with its politicians as well as royal and other heads of government visits to Australia. He has photographed Queen Elizabeth II and Pope John II, and travelled with Prime Minister of Australia Paul Keating and American President Bill Clinton.

Hello NPG / London , And yes ; I was the Official Photographer of these images of Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness Prince Philip in the year of 1992 ( Title being " Queen of Australia " ) My name is Norman Plant of Canberra - Australia , and the Photographs were taken at Admiralty House Sydney New South Wales . And at the time I was an Australian Government Photographer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade , while the Royal Visit came under the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet : The framed Portrait in the background of both images of the Royals - shows the painting of " Captain James Cook " ... I used this location of Admiralty House to show it was an Australian link ...

My father took these photos, he was the official photographer of the royal album's he also so did Diana's and Charles. He lives Dunlop in Canberra Australia, you'll need his permission. I hope this helps. Kind regards Chontelle Plant
